Famous And Infamous Cases

Bill Johnston is a top investigator of unsolved murders, and three of his cases have been the subject of cover stories for Texas Monthly magazine. The most recent took place in March, 2008, in a case where Johnston led an investigation of a Baptist preacher who murdered his wife and staged the crime scene as a suicide.

Johnston has appeared on such national programs as 60 Minutes, Larry King Live, 48 Hours, Dateline NBC and 20/20.

His cases have been the subject of several reality crime shows on networks such as A&E, The Discovery Network, The Learning Channel, Court TV, and Tru TV.

Johnston’s work on the McDuff serial murder case was chronicled in the book Bad Boy: The True Story of Kenneth Allen McDuff, the Most Notorious Serial Killer in Texas History by author Gary LaVergne.

His work on the Matt Baker case was chronicled in the book Deadly Little Secrets: The Minister, His Mistress, and a Heartless Texas Murder.

Over the past year, Bill took to the airwaves with a radio show called True Crime Radio. A screenplay for the McDuff murder cases was written for CBS television by well-known screenplay writer, Richard Dillelo.
